Message In Our Music

MESSAGE IN OUR MUSIC
The message clear
Plant your flag right here and feel my rhythm
High stakes, do you have what it takes
To escape and change your fate?
Pop a little from a bottle, no way he can see
Or dream about my tomorrow, the innocent crime targets
Settlements
Ends up a free bargain, no copy or carbon
But tonight I'ma touch my inner Marvin
Baby's dyin', and it feels like a lynching
Or a bad policing
Now I wanna holla, throw up both my hands
Get 'em up, get 'em up
It makes me wanna holla
Hold the line and take a stand
We've got a message in our music
We’ve got a message in our music
Now take a sec to inspect the society
Forget society, talkin' 'bout you and me
We ain't even chin-checkin' on our own kids
Now it's money on the books when they do bids
We gotta teach 'cause school can't do it
Livin' your best life, thinkin' your kids twice
Get off the 'Gram, get a book in your hand
Read to your kid and stop that bid
Eyes on the street, ain't with the blinkin'
Streets need a body but it ain't what you thinkin'
Streets need a band, the block need a win
Doin' pre-COVID, now I'm doin' it again
Just take a step, less you talkin' all that jazz
Sally and Suzie in the club we spaz
We ain't the prophet of rage
We the prophets of the people
And never been a band that was equal
A message to our music
We've got a message in our music
We've got a message in our music
I'm moving inside now, right?
What’s the matter with the youth today
Proof today rotting like tooth decay
These fights are getting taken too far
It's a shame that they're pullin' out phones and they're yellin' out, "World Star!"
Now videos start to get around
A generation that's negative bound
It's the key to your Facebook or even Wikipedia
Now every little thing is gonna go to social media
Tell the truth if it sounded uncouth
'Cause the proof is in the puddin' and the puddin's proof
The place is for a man he don't want to send you
But clearly you really need the fear of God in you
To rectify is clearly not a letter
I bear witness to Jesus and testify
He paid the price and achieved his goal
Still you want to sell your soul?
We've got a message in our music
We've got a message in our music

(NOW Y’ALL GIVING UP) LOVE
Some of y'all waitin' on Detox
Y'all thought Wise was a beatbox
Y'all thought we broke up
But now y'all giving up
Click clack, steps back
Call that what you want but it's just rap
I heard on the street bring the band back
Cross my heart, brought the band back
So we here now, where your mans at
The one who was laughin' on the internet
But now we smash on the internet
Clash on the internet to just say Stet
Hands in the air if you love life
Shoutin' out Philly 'cause they love bikes
We in Brooklyn most of the time
And the host of the time
Bobby Simmons with a drum set
Bobby Simmons on iHeartRadio
Prince Paul on the new Chris Rock show
Gamble, Gamble, Bet, Bet
Playin' 928, it ain't hit yet
We know a girl got a black and yellow house
When we play, she come out 'cause she eat, sleep, and shit Stet
Some of y'all waitin' on Detox
Y'all thought Wise was a beatbox
Y'all thought we broke up
But now y'all givin' up (love)
But now y'all givin' up (love)
But now y'all givin' up (love)
Clear your vision up
This is 2020 (Two)
Big money, milk and honey
Shout out when you workin' and you can't sleep
All you thinkin' when you up is 'bout your big dreams
On the bus with the band, big dreams
On the chart like a trout goin' upstream
You ain't 'bout that, you can leave then
I could save these tickets for my best friends
Loyalty rare, but we're full of that
You need money now, maybe you should've stacked
We might be the best thing you ever lost
Sweetest day coming, so we're going off
East New York, but it's Amity and Fox too
All the people, all the blocks too
Stack fans as some who don't know you
Join up in the city when we flow through
Might do a show when we blow through
Paul and Daddy O, they give lectures too
Some of y'all waitin' on Detox
Y'all thought Wise was a beatbox
Y'all thought we broke up
But now y'all givin' up (love)
But now y'all givin' up (love)
But now y'all givin' up (love)
You ain't 'bout that, you can leave then
I can save these tickets for my best friend
Some of y'all waitin' on Detox
Y'all thought Wise was a beatbox
Y'all thought we broke up
But now y'all givin' up (love)
But now y'all givin' up (love)

CYPHER PART 1
I got this
My mind's off the top, top off, top list
They have the top, no one know if I'll go topless
Me and this money go together, we monogamous
Keep eyes on the prize like binoculars
Like the evil eyes, Azabache with the little fist
Feel it in the air when I'm around, it's ominous
I'ma run amuck when I'm down like a communist
You ain't 'bout to eat, not even a little condiment
They bars cool for now, my bars survive the apocalypse
Scholar serves zombies, take hostages
Ransom a small fortune, that's a scholarship
Block their lil' footwork, sorta like a coppola
My lil' quick to get to the bag, I'm a doctora
You the type to cooperate with the operatives
Talkin' to me ma, to raise up your operatives
Put 'em with they butt to the seat like a toddler
Try to call an officer, put 'em in the hospital
See me that heart beep, beep, beep, beep in the monitor
I'm a mean girl, cut the check then garnish it
They be left in astonishment
That's how the story start, feds kickin' the door
Have more shit on the floor than a doggy park
Get head rot while I pit this bull
The strip new, down to hound me, shit suit
I'm overrated as underrated
I'm under the clouds, over you clowns, hunger gamin'
I'm from the county of Kings, what it sound like?
I'm 5'7", 5'8" be my crown heights
Who it 'posed to be?
If you could smell my cologne, you too close to me
Caps outside studio doors, they hear the chaos
Smooth in the booth, in the séance
Witchcraft now which craft should I play on
When I'm on play, it's all the way, all day long, it's all they want
We don't need y'all for nothing
Cats get crushed, nobody from here, puss
That should keep y'all from coming
You won't come, I home run it
You won't run in your mouth, we at the homecoming
This home's coming, I ghost wrote, I'm a hip-hop GOAT
Ghostbusters with the ghost gun that I got
I'm coming at the smooth or hard like a ram sack
Me and Stetsasonic, the original hip-hop bands back
Filling up stadiums 'cause I can
Generate enough waves to get you seasick on dry land
Opponents get a hectic scare
Believe you me, they'll be shocked with me like I was the electric chair
Froze or froze like ice, kid
Knowing that the skills I possess truly rose like Christ did
Now, I gotta get off, but here we go again
So roll the red carpet 'cause you know I'm gonna go again
Lyrics is free and rhymes may fail
So it's best for me to spit more bars then a jail cell
You dangle a miss with angles of diss
Not knowing Brigante is in the building
With the skills of mangling this
In fact any other cat I’m smoking and taxing
And then I treat 'em like the opening act
We got boys like this, me and the boys like this
And like PE
Best believe, bring the noise like this
Stay wide, you won't remember who the rest is
Unless you mention the Stet and truly knowing who the best is
Put me in a cypher, I'ma be killin' it
Still waitin' on a check from Milk for top billin' it
Down with Team Homi, so yeah, I'm chill willin' it
Hip-hopping with a garden of rhymes and I'm tillin' it
Far as rappers in my class, I ain't seein' it
Bars beatin' all y'all ass, I'm foreseeing it
Rappers be a joke to me, straight comedy
Entry level two bit flows, I'm an anomaly
Y'all don't want no part of me, I'm what you call a prodigy
In Stetsasonic mob so deep, we puttin' rappers to sleep
Y'all fraudulent, tell me where the order went
When was it okay to bite and not okay to write?
Catch me flowin' in file a Brownsvillian
Used to spend my summers in Memphis with Grandma Lillian
Went to school in East New York, Thomas Jefferson
You can call me Ken Drake Cole, hang with the best of them
And I be bringin' water, y'all, with no truce
Again, I see the fraud in y'all, I got proof
My name, I wear it proudly, Ebony Chief
And like I said before, y'all ain't fuckin' with me, see?

Lolita

LOLITA
Cliché but I met her at the bus stop
Last month when my car was in the shop
Blond hair but a little streak of brown though
Tight waist and a little over 5'4"
Strong rain and the wind broke her umbrella
Started plotting my approach like a bestseller
Pardon my being bold, but excuse me
Slide under my umbrella, with me
She kinda hesitated, and then she gave in
Bus came, doors opened, and we got in
Got comfortable, we started talkin'
Her every word feel like this could be somethin'
She was thirty-two and single with a Labradoodle
Headed cross town new restaurant with ramen noodles
After chattin' for a while, she made a true confession
She thought with cats my age, she learned a better lesson
So I proceed and I'm gettin' off the bus with her
'Bout to have lunch to get to know her, it's a must with her
Then we started walkin' and steady talkin'
And then she stopped to window shop a dress that she was steady hawkin'
So was I, she got curves galore, wearing velour, it compliments her shape and more
In the physical, she's all that in the case to tempt you
Like what it's meant to, so let me check up on her mental
Now we at her spot and I sat across from her
Thought to order for her, but I'm not the boss of her
So we viewin' menus in the venue
Then she starts posin' questions about handlin' her
Can you? Huh, does the leopard have polka dots?
And do you think VIP or even Snoop even smoked a lot?
In rodeos, do they rope a lot?
Hold that thought, let me hit the, let me hit the restroom
A self-check as I looked in the mirror
A few answers will make this night clearer
OG and rapper royalty is my mindset
Back at the table with good intent, let's hedge your bet
Yes or no, is the cream really heaven-sent?
A vulture culture of stress from hell's vent
Need a sense of climate, her attitude
Does she keep her head up? Then a better move
Waiter, waiter bring on your best wine
Tonight we toast (damn), she's so fine
She told me all what she’d been through
Another fool in love with all the wrong dudes
Sally daughter the one who hipped me to you
My street cred precedes me as that dude
Stated a wish, a love that I never felt
Hope's a pleasure making the heart melt

HANDLED
Alright, here we go
Known for handling styles you can't handle
Battlin' me is a gamble, grab you by the seat of your pants
I told you that my methods enhance
I told you I would get the last dance
All the while I was puttin' people on
Looked around and the loyalty was gone
But I ain't lose steps after certain people counted me out
And now you got stet all in your mouth
You bitin’ motherfucker
You really thought we couldn't see you copyin' the thangs that we do?
And tellin' everybody it was you
And now you on stage with a band
When the fuck was that in your plans?
My whole squad yellin', "We 'bout to hit the stage tonight"
And after that, Barclay see Gervonta fight
So when you see Stetsasonic, we the Knights in white
Me, Wise, Paul, Bobby and Delite
Handled, no Frukwan, what's next?
Handled, about the beef with Wrex ‘N Effect
Handled, after third album, what's next?
Handled, Tommy Boy still writin' checks
Handled
Don't worry 'bout the DBC, MC's fuckin' with me
I'm runnin' through the gentrification
And it's about to be a Stetsa Nation
We eat opponents like Lunchables
Get in the ring doin' our thing to the point we're untouchable
But clutchable when hittin' you with combos
And throwin' bomb buildin' make you think of Vietnam, yo
I'm on a rampage, headed for the grand stage
Recording vocals from the studio in my mancave
Pure hotness, so forget about monotonous
I'ma rock this, and you couldn't even stop this
I'm steadfast, cut you like a head gash
Get your head smashed, red splats
Bloody to the point you're dead fast
Can't get with my monopoly
I gotta be aggressive when I'm rollin'
There ain’t no stoppin’ me
I'm the type that I could give a cat's ass
And I'll also guarantee that you would hit the mat fast
Ayo, not a standing eight counts, so they know?
I'm talkin' 'bout to get a straight K .O
Handled, Buildin' up that Stet brand
Handled, Comin' back, know it's the Stet, and
Handled, Human percussion is a blast
Handled, The human mix machine's the past
Handled, Lyrics moviéndolo pa'lante
Handled, The new improved Lito brigante
Handled, Transformin' like a miracle
Reinvent myself like Chris Jericho

STET DREAMS COME TRUE
He never says he love you
He never says, he never says he love you
But I'm your dream come true
I see he put Rolex on your wrist Material but I'm not convinced
That he love you, I see the signs you shouldn't be his, you should be mine
You say he flying you out to Dubai But you'll never be the apple of his eye
This week you his butterfly Next week you'll be boom bye bye
Switch it up, if you and I were linked
Take a moment, just think
To really, really be treated like a princess
And if we stay together, you can be my empress
Us not y'all, me not him
I can be your biggie, you can be my little Kim
I treat you well too, me haffi tell you
I can be, I can be your dream come true
He never says he love you
He never says, he never says he love you (but why?)
But I'm your dream come true
He never says he love you (ayy)
He never says, he never says he love you (but why?)
But I'm your dream come true
Oh, maybe you and me could be a team, yeah
I wanna be the man of your dreams, yeah
You know I am the one to make you cream, yeah, ayy
Oh oh oh, I wanna be the man of your dreams, yeah
I wanna be the one to make you cream, yeah
Maybe me and you could be a team, yeah
It's the ill will of no thrills
Gonna give it to you straight now, no frills
Hold on girl, let's keep it gangsta
They a hundred to your fifty, you're treated like a wanksta
Those red bottoms, I know he got 'em
But still, in all he set you off like a nut asylum
His man tricks, hey, leave your soul vexed
Especially after the lust and then the sex
It's primetime, girl, to close that book
I'll be your precious, I'll be your different look
No more offensive, nightful stressors
No more acts to have you played, Ms
Detective
You're not my Queen Bee, but my Queen G
And his love overflows to your OG
I treat you well, gal, I have to tell ya
I can be, I can be your dream come true
He never says, he never says he love you But I'm your dream come true
He never says he love you He never says, he never says he love you
But I'm your dream come true
Wind your waist, wind your waist Keep the pace
Wind your waist, wind your waist
Wind your waist, keep the pace
Wind your waist, we back
He didn't say that he wants you
He never says that he love you
He didn't say that he dreams about you
But I'm your dream come true
He didn't say that he wants you
He never says that he love you
You hear him sayin' that he dreams about you
But I'm your dream come true
Oh, oh, maybe you and me could be a team, yeah
I wanna be the man of your dreams, yeah
You know I am the one to make you cream, yeah, yeah
Oh, oh, oh, I wanna be the man of your dreams, yeah
I wanna be the one to make you cream, yeah
Maybe me and you could be a team, yeah
(He loves you) 'Cause he loves you
He never says, he never says he love you But I'm your dream come true

HERE WE GO AGAIN
Unique, I ebb and flow, Nile River
Old school like Melle Mel, but not bitter
I'm from a band of dues paid and honor owed
Try test we, you get a bloody nose
Dance floor packed, everybody came
Oceanside, to Pembroke Pines, to Fort Wayne
We at it again, the band played on
Bobby Simmons on the drums, so the kick's strong
New era, but I ain't talkin' snapbacks
The lines around the corner, you would think that crack's back
I told Delite, "Yo, man, you really picked a banger"
We 'bout to fly, so we probably gon' need a hanger
Pretty women came too with they pretty fits
Stetsasonic like the youngin' say the party's lit
We really do this, so while you at it, tell a friend
Beginnin' to the end
Here we go again
Here we go again
Stetsasonic here we go again, start the flow again
To let you know again, coming back to take out any foe again
Bobby called Delite, me and Daddy O again
Combinating so you all see another show again
Yo again, you reaping what you gonna sow again
So forget about the job 'cause you gonna blow again
If you wanna come for seconds then we gonna throw again
O again, tag a toe again, another John Doe again
Six feet under an all time low again
Status quo 'cause your career won't go again
You can rewind and play the song on slow-mo again
I'ma remind you Stetsasonic here we go again
Here we go again
Here we go again
Now we make matter move, that's what we do
Snatching them elements, causing déjà vu
Said Jay-Z, rap's about discovery
So my rhyme gun is cocky, we write our scenery
Or what it be a different type of mastery
To captivate and co-create another symphony
We dig in to dig out, to create a new lane
Like fine wine with design, your taste buds have been changed
They say experience for sure, the best teacher
I pray and pray, hey man, that I can reach ya
Either spare the rod or like a panic, I'll beat ya
It's all love and life but with stress, now that’ll eat ya
So let's go, let it go, let's party some more
To all my ladies and OGs, time to hit the floor
The fast car's and big money plus a Stet encore
You know what goes around comes around
Here we go again
Here we go again

NOTES OF IMPRESSION
Yo, I heard you lookin' for the truth, well listen this is all non-fiction
Spit it with conviction, stronger than addiction
Friction, you don't want no static with the Stetsa
Double up then add another hundred thou extra
Drexler, baseline drive with the dunk
In full gear bringing you that forty five funk
Thirty-five years, blood, sweat and no tears
Now y'all giving up love to the true pioneers
Bang, I'm wicked like Bobby on the drums
Smoking out with Sally in the lobby of the slums
Brownsville, East New York, it's all Brooklyn
Raised in New York, we walk and talk Brooklyn
Juxxman here to set it off somethin' sinister
Raw with the rhyme, it's the crime prime minister
Rusty, if you ain't rockin' with us, we like likewise
Word, salute to Daddy O, Delite, Wise
Brownsville, East New York, it's all Brooklyn
Raised in New York, we walk and talk Brooklyn
Brownsville, East New York, it's all Brooklyn
Raised in New York, we walk and talk Brooklyn
East New York, we walk and talk Brooklyn East New York, we walk and talk Brooklyn
Told me to wish upon a star, I shot it out the sky
They said explain just who you are, Ephesians 1 and 9
'Cause I've been saved by blood, discipled by the gangsters
When I be sailing the sea, y'all looking for an anchor
Purpose and poetry, with some added pressure
Dribbling and shooting these words, the Daddy O professor
I came and conquered and ruled, could call me ruler-centric
Used to make songs for his parents, now I make songs for Kendrick
They say the best in my class, I say best in my school
Best in my category, pivotal Brooklyn story
Clutch like Robert Horry, all full of guts and glory
And we from East New York, where Mark and Guru from
Playtime been over for years, so stop playin' with me
High steppin' over my peers, what they sayin' to me?
And ain't no party like a Stetsasonic party
Better tuck your chains and watch
And when you hear Go Stetsa, no doubt
I can betcha all of Brownsville comin' out the block, watch
Brownsville, East New York, it's all Brooklyn
Raised in New York, we walk and talk Brooklyn
Brownsville, East New York, it's all Brooklyn
Raised in New York, we walk and talk Brooklyn
Brownsville, East New York, it's all Brooklyn
East New York, we walk and talk Brooklyn
The Brooklyn bread, Crooklyn head
The best pound for pound
The prince of the art of sound
World renowned sound for turntablism
And I'm the first with my mouth to do a scratch to a stable rhythm
I meant to rise, percussions that identify
Hence to why it’s the Wise enterprise
And even if you try to flip 'em like Wilson, still son, you can't get my skill, son
If kickin' beats is your forte, hey it's all good
But step to me, guaranteed you'll have an off day
Mad sounds will have you fit flippin’
Mad props, yo, I'll even have the foes on the tip trippin'
I entertain, I'm a Harlem weak griller
A Coney Island rappin' beat contest killer
Boom, the second you heard Wise
When it was over we was winnin' first, second and third prize
Brownsville East New York, it's all Brooklyn East New York, we walk and talk Brooklyn
Brownsville, East New York, it's all Brooklyn East New York, we walk and talk Brooklyn
Brownsville, East New York, it's all Brooklyn East New York, we walk and talk Brooklyn
Brownsville, East New York, it's all Brooklyn East New York, we walk and talk Brooklyn
We've spent thousands of verses, oust all the curses
Lettin' the world know we come with a purpose
Stet at your service, no need to get nervous
Just wanna show 'em how OG's gonna work this
Thought so, we were done, be glad 'cause here we come
Your prodigal son, hustlin' a new outcome
I swing beyond the fences, reeling against the fences
Let me break it on down, until we address this
Brooklyn born certified, Stet law energized
Make 'em all, make 'em all, make 'em all supersized
And we will do the improbable, make it all possible
Take the unbelievable, shape it to achievable
And every street corner ave, known of assurance
The step will represent BK to the fullest
And every street corner ave, known of assurance
The step will represent BK to the fullest
Brownsville, East New York, it's all Brooklyn
East New York, we walk and talk, Brooklyn
Brownsville, East New York, it's all Brooklyn
East New York, we walk and talk, Brooklyn
Brownsville, East New York, it's all Brooklyn

STETSA ANNIVERSARY
Well, here's how it started
The community Ansaru Allah
Where I met MC Delite, Azim and Kedar
Eric Tweedy, little brother, had a tape playin' flash
Fast forward, Stetsasonic all star cast
filled with gravediggers and handsome boy modeling
You want followers, we got a followin'
Pop, pop, pop, when they shot, they left hollerin'
And no pleadin' and beggin' and no barterin'
We blew Hammer off the stage at the Luke Show
You might have seen us cause havoc at the Blue Note
We created the chant for "Go Brooklyn"
Blow a hole in your block without lookin'
Absolutely where your heroes get they style from
Combination of Herc, Biggie and Malcolm
And I remember wearing white when y'all was all black
Now y'all on stage wearing white
Where they do that at?
Do you know what today is?
Stetsa anniversary, anniversary
Do you know what today is?
Stetsa anniversary, anniversary
By '84, I was known for kickin' beats
Performed at Madison Square, and we were packin' them seats
But if you knew Stet, you knew that we were rockin'
And any act comin' behind us was a dead man walkin'
Rave reviews, all pushin' for the knights in white to excite
'Cause just like air flights, we takin' it to new heights
Like only we can, it was the dawning of the era of the original hip-hop band
Stetsasonic droppin' just say Stet about thirty-five years ago
Feel the flow, for real, you know
'Til this day we be performin' and we steal the show
So here we go
Still the modern day kings of the stage
YouTube’in the Stet and tryna take out a page
If I were you, I'd give it up
It's only a suggestion
But I just wanna leave you with this
Question
Do you know what today is?
Stetsa anniversary, anniversary
Do you know what today is?
Stetsa anniversary, anniversary
S-T-E-T, here we go
Presto, hold no stop to our flow
A classic truth, not the regular or average
Elegant, relevant, clear and apparent
From the boys of the band that's back
Bleeding purple, full circle, royalty like that
Your designer, no one finer, perfect cuts on the track
Battle test is so blessed, matter moves when we clap
They say the only thing that's constant is change
So just get your party going while we doing our thang
'Cause every day we open our eyes (anniversary)
Fist up 'cause we aimin' high (anniversary)
No doubt we create new routes and holidays
Be any day we pop bottles, alright?
A celebration, coronation with the two-step swing
No second guessin', our answer is the song, let's sing
Do you know what today is?
Stetsa anniversary, anniversary
Do you know what today is?
Stetsa anniversary, anniversary

PEOPLE IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD
Who are the people in your neighborhood, in your neighborhood, in your neighborhood?
Who are the people in your neighborhood, the people that you meet each day?
Well, this person smokes the bone all day
You know he used to get straight A's
But now he'd even break his back
For a tiny one-inch vial of crack
'Cause a crackhead is a person in your neighborhood (in your neighborhood)
In your neighborhood (in your neighborhood)
In your neighborhood (yeah)
Yes, a crackhead is a person in your neighborhood (in your neighborhood)
The people that we meet each day
Well, this person drives a souped-up Jeep
Expensive and he's never cheap
He and his homies are classified as thugs
And he makes a living selling drugs
'Cause a dope man is a person in your neighborhood (in your neighborhood)
In your neighborhood (in your neighborhood)
In your neighborhood (yeah)
A dope man is a person in your neighborhood (in your neighborhood)
These are the people, you just see it all day
Well, some hookers like to give guys crabs
And some give AIDS and some give claps
But there's a new disease that tops them all
Knock a hooker and watch your Jimmy fall off
Well, a hooker is a person in your neighborhood
In your neighborhood
She's in your neighborhood
A hooker is a person in your neighborhood
She's from people that we meet
When you're walking down the street
She's from people that we meet
Each day
These are role models, ah ha ha ha!

Hangin On A String

HANGING ON A STRING
On the way to the club in the back of the Sprinter
Winter in New York with the black chinchilla
Remember we was talkin' 'bout LeBron and the Lakers
First indication that I knew you's a faker
Shoulda been wiser, more observant back then
Shoulda seen signs all up in the paintings
Up against the wall, all above and behind
If my mama was alive, she would say I was blind
But back to the story, LeBron and the Lakers
I can see your eyes shifty like the Mexican shakers
Shoulda seen signs when I passed you the wine
Like I said, I was blind
Could've kept the gator, but I let you in
Missed all the signs, made you a friend
Moral of the story, put a hedge around your square
You got no spare, and you
You, you, you got me hanging on a string now
Ooh, you got me hanging
You, you, you got me hanging on a string now
Time and time and time again
Never took a second look at what the hell walked in
Young youth, who just had no couth
Bought as bright as the squad they call F troop
Rough around the edges, green with the wedges
Runnin' through the hood to taste some street pleasures
Life they say is fluid till it’s stuck in stupid
You'll count the ways you've been burnt by Cupid
Dressed to impress casually
New kicks hang gold sits so rightly
Street life abound, gotta earn the crown
And the eagle might have to take a few breakdowns
Throwin' oaks with ruggers, felt like a muppet
Had me on a string, strung like a puppet
Caught up in the loop, hangin' from a noose
Straight off a plate, ate all the soup...Life
You, you, You got me hangin' on a string now
Ooh, you got me hangin' on a string now
Ooh, and that's just the way it is
You can stop a suit, 'cause I'm not runnin'
As if I was the Terminator, just keep comin'
Like I said before, I move pa’lante
From the human mix machine, to Lito Brigante
Why you wanna worry 'bout the lyrics that I'm kickin'?
If it's a Stet show, then believe that I'ma kick it
A Stetsasonic show is what it is when you gone
Without Frukwan, show's still goin' on
Put it like this, it's like a substitute teacher
Class is in session and they're still tryna teach ya
They won't shut it down 'cause a person is missin'
So what's with the attitude and why start dissin'?
A blatant disregard for the band is your choice
I gotta give you credit, you did have the voice
I'm not understandin' the purpose of your raps
One plus one is two, do the math
You got me hangin' on a string now
And I just don't know what to do
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
You, you, you
You got me hanging on a string now
Ooh, you got me hanging
You, you, you
You got me hanging on (straight up)

The Stetsasonic Decision

They tell me Hip-Hop is 50 years old. To me, it’s older than the sun, moon, and stars. All the “who woulda thought” conversations are beyond me. You have what you say. You said it wasn’t art; now we are ripping you apart. Not your average band... we carved a way for ourselves. We survived an era like no other in this country. Weird combination it was: independent rap music and crack filled neighborhoods. As artists: a rare crew that stood up for human rights and justice, standing in the gap for many who couldn't stand for themselves.
Being the Original Hip-Hop Band has its own set of pressures. To desire to be like your heroes (EWF, Mandrill, Sly, Brass Construction... the list goes on) and match your contemporaries is quite a task. We've had our share of criticism and Crowns. We've traveled from opposition to overcoming. Regardless of the circumstance, the music was/is the constant that makes it all good.
The Stetsasonic decision is Here We Go Again. More music, more touring, more product. Our fans and supporters deserve this and much more. The right to jump in the car with the teenagers in your family and reclaim the aux cord and the Bluetooth signal. Play something fresh with music movies on YouTube to accompany the experience. Something to post about beyond just having a #throwbackthursday.
We're back. And don't expect us to leave again. We aim for the name Stetsasonic to go on for decades ahead. Even with new band members the legacy will live on. We take this opportunity to say thank you. We love you. And what we present to you on this album in our opinion will prove just that. Classic Hip-Hop is and has been your ticket to ride for some time now. Welcome aboard once again.
The Rhyme Orator MC Delite
The Ebony Chief Daddy-O
Wise aka Lito Brigante'
The Grand Wizard DJ Prince Paul
The Stet Drummer Bobby Simmons
